Categories Map

The Categories Map widget acts as both a product filter and a way of mapping categories and type values on products.

You should Save Page before configuring categories here. Categories will not show for new feed.

At the same time, if you change the Store View under General Configuration, the category tree would be affected, displaying only the categories for that store. Make sure you save the feed after a store view change, than edit categories here.

Feed Localization

Set the Feed Localization to match target country locale. Your product titles and descriptions should also be in this language.

Changing the language here affects the language of taxonomies, and autocomplete under category widget depends on choosing the language first.

Note, this setting does not affect price formatting. Price formatting depends on what is set for your store under System > Configuration > Locale Options > Locale. (see 12.1)

Include Products w/o category

This setting aims to filter products that are missing categories in your catalog. It's complementary to category filter checks from Categories Map.

If you do include products without categories, note that they will be missing taxonomies, so to set a default taxonomy for those, set a Replace Empty rule. (see 5.1)

Categories priority mode

Specifies how the Priority filed in the widget should apply when matching product categories.

  • Priority through all category depths
  • Priority on categories of the same depth

When set to match priority on categories of the same level, deeper level categories are matched first, than apply the priority of categories at the same level to determine which one will be matched for a product with multiple categories.

Filtering products

Use the checkboxes and deselect categories you do not want to include in the feed, and make sure you check the Include Products w/o category setting to get the intended result.

Taxonomy and Type mappings

Taxonomies defined here output through Taxonomy By Magento Category, and the Type would output through Type by Magento Category directive under Columns Map.

Use the arrows to expand the category tree, and try to find deeper taxonomy path for each category. Fill in the input reading "Type at least 3 characters" to fill in taxonomies using an autocomplete list. (see Fig 12.1), and optionally use the Type input to specify paths at your choice if you need to fill in the product types on your product by categories.
